Have you ever had the experience of buying clothes because they looked good on the model but when you tried them on, you felt disappointed as it doesn't look as flattering on you?
Understanding your body shape and the types of clothing that suits it would solve this problem for you! The right clothing can make a whole lot of difference. Everyone is be(YOU)tiful in their own ways, and we would like to help you realise this through our Dear Lyla collections.
Here's a quick guide on how to determine your body shape and some tips and suggestions for selecting the most flattering outfit for yourself.
1. Triangle (Pear) body - your hips and thighs are wider than your shoulders.
Best for you: You'll look best with tops that accentuate your shoulders like puffed, flare, bell, cap sleeves. Wear tops with ruffles, ribbons and tie details to draw attention to your upper body so that your hips and thighs will seem narrower.
Pear shapes often look beautiful in flare sleeve designs, such as a kimono style dress, as it adds volume to your upper body. Tops in brighter colours works wonders for you too. Pair your tops with dark coloured bottoms to create an illusion of a slimmer lower body.

2. Rectangle body - your hips and shoulders are of similar widths, with little waist definition.
Best for you: Your ultimate goal is to highlight your waist so that the hips and bust appear curvier in comparison.
We would recommend to create some curves with outfits that accentuate your waistline. Go for pieces with ruffles and frills at the upper or lower part of the outfit to create curves to your figure. You can also add a belt to your dress to create a waistline. Dresses with attached/detachable sash at the midsection will do the trick too.

3. Inverted Triangle body - your shoulders are wider than your hips.
Best for you: You will want to minimise your upper body and create volume on your lower body in order to balance out your silhouette.
Keep details, ruffles, anything that creates volume to the lower half of your body. Go for A-lined, wide-legged, tiered, and pleated bottoms. Skirts and dresses that flare at the bottom are ideal for you as they help balance out broad shoulders.
V-neckline tops are your best friends. Pick tops without any details to keep your top half clean and uncluttered. To make the upper part of your body appear smaller, wear darker colours for tops or brighter colours for your bottoms.

4. Round (Oval) body - your waist is the widest part of your frame.
Best for you: Keep details above the bust line and below the hips. It would be best to keep your midsection plain and simple.
Pick lower and wider necklines like scoop, square, large V-neck or sweetheart. Relaxed silhouettes, flowy, drop waist, shift dresses are your best friends as they are comfortable and do not draw attention to your waist. You should instead draw attention to your arms with sleeveless tops and your legs with mini dresses.

5. Hourglass body - your waist is the smallest part of your body while your hips and bust are of similar width.
Best for you: With such a figure, you can easily look fabulous in any style of clothing. Show off your waist with outfits that hugs you in the right places. Go for dresses with minimal designs without excess fabric or too much details as the details will add extra volume to your body which you do not need. Wear fitted, body-con dresses to show off your curves.
